After graduating with my BS in Microbiology, I began working as a Research Assistant and later a Research Associate at UAB.  Although I spent a year working in Atherosclerosis, most of my research was in Infectious Diseases.  I spent almost 14 years doing medical research at UAB.

Shortly after I started Graduate school at UAB, I got my first teaching job.  I taught 7th grade life science at Thompson Middle School.  I then spent 2 years teaching 8th grade physical science at Montevallo Middle School and 3 years teaching 7th grade life science at McAdory Middle School. I came to Oak Grove High School in 2014.  I teach biology, Pre-AP biology, and AP biology.

I was born in Florida where my father was stationed in Jacksonville and Key West for the United States Navy. When my father retired we moved to Mississippi.  I graduated from high school in 1988. I graduated from Mississippi State University in 1993 with a BS degree and received a 2nd BS degree from MSU in 1994. I moved to Birmingham in 1994. I married my high school sweetheart in 1995 and moved to Alabaster in 1998. We had our only child, a son, in 2000. We are huge Mississippi State fans and attend or watch every game we can—with our cow bells! Go State!!!
